Handwritten letter thanking the recipient for sending a collection of sonnets
Autograph Letter signed: “Sarah Robinson” in iron gal ink, 2p, 9x7½ adjoined leaves, which
fold out to an overall size of 15x9. Bury St. Edmunds, 1835 October 20. Difficult to
decipher to whom the letter is written. In part: “Mr. Robinson has past informed me that he is
going to send a parcel to [difficult to decipher], and I embrace the first opportunity to write to you
to thank you + …for your very kind remembrance of us. We admire the Sonnets very much - not
alone for their intrinsic beauty, but for the subject which is the foundation of so many of them...”.
Signer merits further research. Creases as a result of the letter being folded several times.
Toned, most heavily at folds. Corners and edges gently worn. Red wax seal remnants and
paper loss resulting from the letter being opened. Otherwise, fine condition.
