SAWYER BROWN - SHAYNE HILL, MARK MILLER, JOE SMYTH, JIM SCHOLTER, GREGG HUBBARD
Group photo of one of the longest running country music acts ever
Photograph inscribed and signed "To Rocky's/Famon's/Shayne Hill/Mark Miller/Joe Smyth/Jim/Gregg Hubbard". This is the band's current line-up. Color, 8x10. Sawyer Brown was formed in 1982 and auditioned for Star Search in 1983, say the band members, because they wanted a videotape to send to prospective buyers. They went on to win Star Search's grand prize, and have since racked up one of the longest uninterrupted runs of any country music act, with over 3,000 live shows and 19 Top 10 hits on Billboard's US Country charts, including three Number One songs: Step that Step (1985), Some Girls Do (1992) and Thank God for You (1993). Their latest album, Mission Temple Fireworks Stand, was released in 2005. Sawyer Brown - named after a road that the band rehearsed on - is an eclectic bunch. Miller (vocalist) is a cattle breeder and former semipro basketball player. Hubbard (keyboardist) is a liberal arts graduate of Nashville's Belmont University with a 4.0 GPA. Smyth (drummer) is a Civil War preservationist and taught at the University of Miami's School of Music. Hill (guitarist) replaced Duncan Cameron, who left the band to become a commercial pilot in 2001. Scholten (bassist) is a Michigan boy whom the band describes as a "rocker". Fine condition.
