Inscribed photograph signed "To Trinia -/Sincerely/Scat Man Crothers/Louie/1972". Pencil notations on verso in unknown hand. B/w, 8x10 overall, 6½x9½ image, one surface. A jazz and R&B performer in clubs and radio from the 1920's, Crothers (1910-1986), born Benjamin Sherman Crothers, appeared in four films with Jack Nicholson, including The King of Marvin Gardens (1972), One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest (1975) and The Shining (1980), and in several TV series, including the role of Louie the garbage man in Chico and the Man (1974-1978). In all, he appeared in over 110 movies and TV shows between 1951 and 1986, including a posthumous credit as the narrator for 1987's Rock Odyssey. Lightly creased and bowed. Signature has low contrast in places but is legible. Show-through from paper loss on verso (does not touch signature). Tape and adhesive remnants in top left corner and bottom corners (do not touch signature). 1x½ tear near bottom right corner. Light scratches on image (not visible head-on). Errors in negative were reproduced on photo. Otherwise in fine condition.
