Also signed on verso: "Buck Williams", "Darwin/Cook/12", ""Michael Ray Richardson", "Mike O'Koren" and 4 unidentified signers. Japanese Conductor SEIJI OZAWA (b. 1935) served as Conductor of the Toronto Symphony Orchestra (1965-1969). He went on to serve as Music Director for the San Francisco Symphony (1970-1972), the Boston Symphony Orchestra (1973-2002), and the Vienna State Opera (2002-2010). He conducted the Boston Symphony Orchestra for soloist Itzhak Perlman, who was awarded the 1980 Grammy for Best Classical Performance-Instrumental Soloist or Soloists (with Orchestra) and the 1995 Grammy for Best Instrumental Soloist or Soloists Performance (with Orchestra). Ozawa won the 1976 Emmy Award for Outstanding Achievement in Music Direction for PBS's Central Park in the Dark/A Hero's Life Evening at Symphony and the 1994 Emmy for Outstanding Individual Achievement-Cultural Programming for PBS's The Dvorak Concert From Prague: A Celebration. American composer JOHN HARBISON (b. 1938) is known for his symphonies, operas, and large choral works. He won a Pulitzer Prize in Music for the opera Flight Into Egypt (1987), and a Grammy for the choral work Mottetti di Montali (2007). The Metropolitan Opera commissioned him two write The Great Gatsby, which premiered in 2009, and he composed the "Papal Concert of Reconciliation" on behalf of the Christian ecumenical movement (2004). He is closely associated with Emmanuel Music of Boston. Violinist and conductor JOSEPH SILVERSTEIN (1932-2015) was Concert Master of the Boston Symphony Orchestra for 22 years (1962-1984). He has since been music director of the Florida Philharmonic and the Boston Symphony, while guest conducting many world-class orchestras. The identified signers on verso all played with the New Jersey Nets of the National Basketball Association between 1982 and 1986 (some longer). Signers include 3-time All-Star forward and center Charles Linwood "BUCK" WILLIAMS (b. 1960), who played the first 8 of his 17 seasons with the Nets. He played in every game in 5 of those seasons. Guard DARWIN COOK (b. 1958) played the first 6 of his NBA seasons with New Jersey, playing in all but one game in his first four seasons with the team. Guard/forward MICHAEL RAY RICHARDSON (b. 1955) played the last 3½ of his 8 NBA seasons for the Nets, ending his career after the 1986 season. Guard/forward MIKE O'KOREN (b. 1958) played 7 of his 8 NBA seasons with the Nets, interrupted by one year with the Washington Bullets. Williams played his college ball at the University of Maryland, Cook at Portland, Richardson at Montana, and O' Koren at North Carolina. Lightly toned at edges. Lightly frayed at left edge.
