SEVEN BRIDES FOR SEVEN BROTHERS MOVIE CAST: JULIE NEWMAR and RUSS TAMBLYN
Julie Newmar and Russ Tamblyn sign a laser disc cover for their movie Seven Brides for Seven Brothers.
Laser Disc cover signed: "Russ/Tamblyn", and "Julie/Newmar". Color, 12¼x12¼. Laser disc not included. The 1954 film musical Seven Brides for Seven Brothers featured dancing choreographed by Michael Kidd as well as the expected singing. The six unmarried brothers decide to kidnap their prospective brides to their mountain home in this entertaining if politically incorrect story. A dancer featured in other film musicals, including Li'l Abner, JULIE NEWMAR won a Tony for The Marriage-Go-Round (1959). She played the Devil in an episode of Twilight Zone (1963) and herself in the offbeat film To Wong Foo, Thanks for Everything! Julie Newmar (1995). Newmar is best-remembered for her TV role of Catwoman on the weekly series Batman. Actor RUSS TAMBLYN (born in 1934) was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for his role as Norman Page in Peyton Place (1957). He had made his film debut in 1948's, The Boy With Green Hair, and was seen as young Saul in Cecil B. DeMille's Biblical epic, Samson and Delilah the following year. A champion gymnast, acrobat and singer, his breakout role came in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers; then Tamblyn would star in his best known film role, Riff, the leader of the Jets, in West Side Story in 1961. He has also appeared in a number of made-for-TV movies and guest starred on several TV series. Lightly worn at corners. Fine condition.
