Photograph inscribed and signed: "To Mush -/My best -/Sheila Barrett". B/w, 8x10. Photograph by Maurice Seymour, Chicago (imprint at lower right margin). Identifying ink notes (unknown hand) on verso note that this autograph was obtained "Backstage/Loew's State/Fri. Dec. 3, 1937". Sheila Barrett (circa 1909-1980) was a talented impressionist whose act included impressions of "The Southern Girl", "The Chorus Girl", Greta Garbo and others. In addition to appearing in supper clubs, Barrett appeared in two Broadway shows, Experience Unnecessary (1931-1932) and Thumbs Up (1934-1935), and she performed for President and Mrs. Franklin D. Roosevelt (Cabinet dinner in March 1940). Barrett, who also appeared in her One Woman Show (1962), made one feature film, Two Hearts in Harmony (1935). Slightly creased at soiled at blank margins and corners and on verso. Fine condition.
