Initially formed in 1985 as a house band in Muscle Shoals, Alabama, Shenandoah is composed of Marty Raybon (vocalist), Jim Seales (guitar), Stan Thorn (keyboards), Ralph Ezell (bass) and Mike McGuire (drums). The group released its first album, the self-titled Shenandoah in 1987, which was followed up the next year by Road Not Taken, a traditional country album that was their most successful, producing six singles that reached the Country Top 10 (including No. 1 hit, "The Church on Cumberland Road"). Their third album, Extra Mile (1990), included the group's biggest single, "Next to You, Next to Me", which topped the country charts for three weeks. The group's other Top 10 hits include "Sunday in the South", "Two Dozen Roses", "Ghost in This House", "I Got You" and "The Moon Over Georgia", and subsequent albums include Long Time Comin' (1992), Under the Kudzu (1993), Now and Then (1996) and 2000 (2000).
