Texas
Typed Letter signed:"Sherman W. Tribbitt". 1 page,
8½x11 on State of Delaware letterhead, Dover, Delaware, 1973 March 7.
To: Ms. J. L. Pruett, Clute, Texas. In full: "It is a pleasure to
send my autograph for your use in the classroom. I am always happy to be of some
assistance to those who are engaged in the worthwhile occupation of helping
handicapped children. Sincerely,". Sherman W. Tribbitt (1922-2010), a
member of the Democratic Party, was a career politician elected first in 1957 to
the Delaware House of Representatives (elected 5 times), Lt. Governor
(1965-1969) and then Governor from 1973 to 1977. In an effort to
solve the financial problems of the state he is credited with initiating the
Delaware Lottery. After leaving office, he worked with the Delaware River Basin
Commission. Tribbitt died at the age of 87. Normal mailing folds. Fine
condition.
