SHINBONE ALLEY PLAY CAST: EARTHA KITT and EDDIE BRACKEN
Both sign the cover of this Playbill, which bears their photo images
Show Bill signed: "Eartha Kitt", "Eddie Bracken", 56 pages, 6½x9. Program for a production of Shinbone Alley At New York's Broadway Theatre (1957). EARTHA KITT, born Eartha Mae Keith (1927-2008), who started her career in the early 1950s as a dancer with the Katherine Dunham troupe, was a nightclub singer, Broadway performer and film and television actress, playing Catwoman on Batman on the small screen. (She also played a cat, Mehitabel, in the Broadway play offered here.) She has also lent her vocal talents to such animated projects as the TV series, The Wild Thornberrys (1998-2001), and the feature film, The Emperor's New Groove (2000). A child performer in vaudeville, EDDIEBRACKEN (1920-2002, born in Astoria, Queens) moved on to Broadway and then movies, typecast in comic roles as a bewildered bungler. His film career spanned more than half a century (1938-1994). His peak year was 1944, when he starred in Hail the Conquering Hero and The Miracle of Morgan's Creek. Shinbone Alley, with Bracken and Kitt in the starring roles of Archie the Cockroach and Mehitabel the Alley Cat, ran for 49 performances in April and May, 1957. Surface lightly rubbed. Corners lightly worn. Otherwise, fine condition.
