#1120/ New Orleans/ LA 70005". Southern novelist and short story writer Shirley Ann Grau
(1929-2020) was known for her exploration of race and gender, focusing on her childhood in
and around Montgomery and Selma, Alabama. Her collection of short stories The Black
Prince (1955) was nominated for the National Book Award in 1956 and her saga The
Keepers of the House (1964) was awarded the 1965 Pulitzer Prize for Fiction. Her other
works include The Hard Blue Sky (1958), The Wind Shifting West (1973) and
Roadwalkers (1994). Irregularly cut. Edges frayed. Creased throughout. Otherwise, fine
condition.
