Bassey, born in Tiger Bay, Cardiff, Wales in 1937, was one of the most popular singers in Great Britain in the latter half of the 20th Century. In 1964, Bassey's recording of the James Bond theme song "Goldfinger" became an international hit, selling more than a million copies in the U.S. alone. Dame Shirley's increasing popularity became unstoppable during the 70s with the release of Something, which became the biggest selling album of her career. She was voted Best Female Singer by the TV Times in 1973 and Best Female Solo Singer in the Britannia Awards. The American Guild of Variety Artists also named Dame Shirley the Best Female Entertainer in 1976. She was named a Dame Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2000. Fine condition.
