SHIRLEY BASSEY. Typed Letter signed: "Shirley Bassey". 1p, 6½x9. No place, 1983 May 6. On her personal imprinted stationery. To Peter, in full: "Thank you for your nice letter. I hope you like the photograph I have signed for you - I'm afraid it's the largest I have with me. I have also signed the cards you enclosed. I have no plans for a concert in Ireland at the moment, but there's always a chance!" In 1964, Bassey's recording of the James Bond theme song "Goldfinger" became an international hit, selling more than a million copies in the U.S. alone. Dame Shirley's increasing popularity became unstoppable during the 70s with the release of Something which became the biggest selling album of her career. She was voted Best Female Singer by the TV Times in 1973 and Best Female Solo Singer in the Britannia Awards. The American Guild of Variety Artists also named Dame Shirley the Best Female Entertainer in 1976. Lightly creased. Pinhead sized spot. Otherwise, fine condition.
