Autograph Letter signed: "Shirley/[drawn arrow piercing a heart]", 5x7. Written in ink on inside of card. Outside of card has a color image by Artist Dick Wilson, of MacLaine meditating in a bowl of cherries, with planets, a flying saucer and a pyramid in the background. To "Darling Edie" [Adams], in full: "I'm back from location now. I miss you and wanted you to know how I think of you. Happy New Year every day of your life in your own bowl of cherries. Love always!" Shirley MacLaine (b. 1934) made her Broadway debut as a in Me and Juliet (1953). Her dancing skills were evident in the films Can-Can (1960) and Sweet Charity (1969). She received five Academy Award nominations for Best Actress , finally winning the coveted Oscar in 1983 for Terms of Endearment. MacLaine has written several books on reincarnation, channeling and "New Age" metaphysics. Her brother is actor Warren Beatty. This card is from the estate of singer, actress and businesswoman Edie Adams (1927-2008). Left edge lightly creased. Otherwise, fine condition.
