Costume, unsigned. Black and brown striped satin skirt, lined with ruffles. Worn by her in the film Can-Can (1960). A Western Costume Co. tag attached to the inner waist seam bears MacLaine's name, written in ink. Shirley MacLaine made her Broadway debut as a 16 year-old chorus girl in Me and Juliet (1953). Her dancing skills were evident in the films Can-Can (1960) and Sweet Charity (1969). She received five Academy Award nominations for Best Actress , finally winning the coveted Oscar in 1983 for Terms of Endearment. MacLaine has written several books on reincarnation, channeling and "New Age" metaphysics. Her brother is actor Warren Beatty. Some discoloring to the interior ruffles.
