Shirley Stoler (1929-1999) is widely recognized for playing various villainesses, as she was often typecast in such roles due to her large size and physical strength. She made her film debut in 1969 when she was cast as Martha Beck in The Honeymoon Killers. During the 1970s, Stoler played many roles, including one of her most well-known, as the prison camp commandant in the 1975 film Seven Beauties, which was nominated for multiple awards. Over the course of her career, Stoler was cast in 38 titles including The Deer Hunter (1978), Pee-Wee's Playhouse (1986), Miami Blues (1990), and her last onscreen appearance before her death as Irma in the 1997 film The Deli.
