Typed Letter signed: "Sholem Asch", 1 page, 7¼x10½. Stamford, Connecticut, 1940 December 18. On his personal letterhead to Mr. William Johnston Hogan, Virginia Episcopal School, Lynchburg, Virginia. In full: "I was very pleased to hear that I have admirers in the Virginia Episcopal School and am very happy to comply with your request. I hope the boys approve of the choice. Very truly yours". His works include Mottke The Thief (1917), The Apostle (1943), Moses (1951), The Prophet (1955) and two collections of short stories. Creased at lower right blank corner.
