Photograph signed: "Sid Melton", "Whit/Bissell". Color, 10x8. Photo of a lobby card for Lost Continent (1951). SID MELTON (1920-2011) was best known for his roles in the television series Green Acres and The Danny Thomas Show. Born in Brooklyn, New York, he is the brother of screenwriter Louis Meltzer. His early acting included appearances in the films The Shadow of the Thin Man (1941), Blondie Goes to College (1942), Treasure of Monte Cristo (1949), On the Town (1949) and The Geisha Boy (1958). He appeared in two Lippert Pictures films, Lost Continent (1951) and Radar Secret Service (1950) which were later featured in Mystery Science Theater 3000. Later in his career Melton had several roles in television series including The Golden Girls, Captain Midnight, Dragnet, Gomer Pyle U.S.M.C., I Dream of Jeannie and The Dick van Dyke Show. WHIT BISSELL (1909-1996), one of the most recognizable character actors of his time, played a doctor in many films, including the fifties SF classics Creature from the Black Lagoon, Invasion of the Body Snatchers and I Was a Teenage Werewolf (turning Michael Landon into the title character in the latter, 1957). He appeared in scores of TV episodes, including multiple appearances on The Lone Ranger, Science Fiction Theater, Bachelor Father, The Rifleman and Perry Mason. More than half a century after he first appeared on a Broadway stage (Alice in Wonderland, 1932), he made his last TV appearance in an episode of Falcon Crest (1984). Fine condition.
