SIDNEY BRADSHAW FAY
Signed, handwritten letter to a friend from the author of The
Origins of the World War, saying that he is pleased to see the release of
his book in German and that he is still currently working on his own new book.
Extremely rare!
Autograph letter signed: "S.B. Fay", in blue ink, 5x8.
December 24, 1958. In part: "Dear Mr. Lutz, Thank you very much for
your letter just received. I am greatly pleased that Schlictening is putting out
a German edition of your book next March. I was also very much interested to
hear of the [illegible] of news and Aderman in regard to his. My own book
is making progress but only slowly because my eyes cause the use of a magnifying
glass". Historian Sidney Bradshaw Fay (1876-1967) released his book,
The Origins of the World War, in 1928. It caused a stir with
the conclusion that the Germans were not the sole perpetrators in the war,
and that the Allies shared just as much blame as the other powers. The book,
while praised for it's construction and research, was not particularly supported
by a society that was still recovering from the effects of the war. Modern
day scholars now support his stance, and the book is often used as a study piece
in education. Fold in center. Some areas of writing smeared, but clearly
legible. Toned. Ink print on verso. Otherwise, fine condition.
