Autograph Letter signed: "S.Abeles", 4½x6. To "Dear Mr. Glossinger", in full: "Of what value is a signature except to a forger? Images yes, signatures no or why. To each, their own, I suppose! The other side bears a self-portrait, far more real and personal than a photo and three signatures". On verso is a reproduction of his Self Portrait in Cap (1977), bearing a facsimile signature. Sigmund Abeles (b. 1934) is an artist known for his representations of human and animal figures and expressions. He works in many mediums: pastels, oils, graphics and sculpture. In 2012 he remains active in special exhibitions and one-person shows. Lightly toned at edges. Otherwise, fine condition.
