May Wine opened on Broadway at the St. James Theatre on December 5, 1935 and ran for 213 performances. Music by Sigmund Romberg, lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II, book by Frank Mandel adapted from the The Happy Alienist by Eric Von Stroheim.
