Typed letter signed: "Sig Romberg", 8¼x10¾. On Song Writers Protective Association letterhead, New York City, New York, 1943 August 17. To Mr. Lionel A. Aucoin, Spencer, Massachusetts. In full: "Many thanks for your kind letter of May 11th, and please forgive me for not having answered you sooner, but I have recently returned from my concert tour and found your letter awaiting me here in New York. I am happy to comply with your request, and enclosed herewith [not present] are the three pieces of manuscript paper autographed by me. With all good wishes, I am Sincerely yours," Composer Sigmund Romberg (1887-1951) wrote over 2,000 popular songs as well as romantic operettas with songs flavored by his earlier Viennese influences. Romberg's most famous operettas were The Student Prince (1924, included the songs "Deep in My Heart", "Serenade" and "Drinking Song"), The Desert Song (1926, featuring "One Alone") and The New Moon (1928, with songs "Lover, Come Back to Me" and "Stout Hearted Men"). Fold creases not at signature. Fine condition.
