Albert Sidney Burleson (1863-1937) was a U.S. Representative from Texas (1899-1913) and U.S. Postmaster General under President Wilson (1913-1921). His grandfather, Edward Burleson, was Vice President of the Republic of Texas (1841-1844). As Postmaster General, Burleson introduced parcel post and airmail service, but persecuted black postal workers, re-segregating the post office and firing southern blacks.
