Biography
Anatole France (1844-1924) was regarded as a brilliant satirist and humorist. He was noted for the wit, urbanity, irony, skepticism and literary style of his works. After the Dreyfus Affair (he supported Dreyfus), he introduced social and political concerns into his plays and novels. The French writer was awarded the 1921 Nobel Prize in Literature.
