ANDY WARHOL
Born: August 06, 1928 in Forest City, Pennsylvania
Died: February 22, 1987 in New York City, New York
Biography
Andy Warhol (1927-1987), a former commercial artist, first attracted attention with his exhibitions of pop art subjects from everyday life (Campbell's Soup Can, 1965; Green Coca-Cola Bottles, 1962). He also produced a uniquely colored series of celebrity portraits. Warhol then ventured into experimental motion pictures, producing, among others, the seven-hour The Chelsea Girls (1966). The artist, producer and publisher, who predicted that in the future everyone would enjoy 15 minutes of fame, is credited with not only reflecting American culture but helping to shape it.
