Biography
Anna Neagle (1904-1986) moved from dance roles to acting in the theatre and then onto movie screens. Extremely popular in her native England, Neagle's early films were all directed by Herbert Wilcox, whom she married in 1943. Neagle specialized in light comedies, but could play roles as diverse as Queen Victoria and Peter Pan. She became a Dame of the British Empire in 1970. Sixty Glorious Years (1938), Neagle's film portrayal of Queen Victoria's life, was directed by her future husband, Wilcox. The royals mentioned in this letter are King George V and his spouse, Queen Elizabeth, mother of Queen Elizabeth II
