Biography
ARMY ARCHERD (1922-2009), born Armand Archerd, had a daily column, Just for Variety, in the Hollywood trade paper Daily Variety for over 50 years (1953-2005). Although his specialty was inside information on the lives of Hollywood celebrities, Archerd's gentle and factual reporting meant that even publicity-shy stars would return his phone calls. He also appeared in several films, mostly playing himself. He wrote over 10,000 columns for Daily Varietyand continued his journalism in a daily blog filled with entertainment news.
