Biography
Arthur Lake (1905-1987) was a child actor whose adult career was set in 1938 when he portrayed Chic Young's cartoon character Dagwood opposite Penny Singleton's Blondie in the first of 28 films featuring the fictional family through 1950, with a brief TV series in 1954. In the movie, quite opposite the comic strip, Blondie had the family brains.
