Died: December 14, 1975 in Manhasset, New York
Biography
Arthur Treacher (1884-1975) quickly established himself in butler/servant roles in films, notably in several Shirley Temple films. He was awarded top billing in Thank You Jeeves (1936) and Step Lively Jeeves (1937), both based on the butler character created by P.G. Wodehouse. His last film was Mary Poppins (1964); he was a recurrent guest star on The Beverly Hillbillies that same year. In addition to his film roles, his recognition exists today through the franchising of his name, Arthur Treacher's Fish & Chips.
