Biography
Sir Austen Chamberlain (1863-1937) was the eldest son of British statesman Joseph Chamberlain and a half-brother of Neville Chamberlain, British Prime Minister from 1937-1940. Austen served in the House of Commons from 1892-1937.While serving as Foreign Secretary (1924-1929), he was awarded the 1925 Nobel Peace Prize for his diplomacy leading to the Locarno Pact, which bound the participating European nations to a series of border guarantees and arbitration agreements.
