U.S. financier BERNARD BARUCH (1870-1965), who made his fortune on Wall Street, became an influential adviser to U.S. Presidents from Woodrow Wilson to Lyndon B. Johnson. At the time of this letter, he was writing the second volume of his autobiography, Baruch: The Public Years (published in 1960), which documented his nearly 50 years in public service. The first volume, Baruch: My Own Story (1957), mentioned in this letter, detailed his early years and Wall Street career.
