Biography
Welsh-born philosopher, logician, essayist and peace advocate Bertrand Russell (1872-1970), who penned a number of books and articles on the foundations of mathematics, logic and the theory of knowledge as well as analytic philosophy, was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1950. Russell's works include The Principles of Mathematics (1903) and The Basic Writings of Bertrand Russell, 1903-1959.
