Bill Gallo (December 28, 1922 – May 10, 2011) was an esteemed American cartoonist and columnist. Born in Manhattan, New York, he was most widely recognized for his extensive tenure at the "New York Daily News", where his distinctive cartoons became an integral part of the publication's identity.

Gallo's illustrious career at the "New York Daily News" spanned seven decades, beginning in 1941. His work primarily revolved around sports, capturing the spirit, triumphs, and defeats of countless athletes, teams, and significant sporting events. Over the years, Gallo created memorable characters like Basement Bertha and Yuchie, which became synonymous with New York sports culture. In addition to his contributions as a cartoonist, Gallo wrote sports columns for the "Daily News", blending his insightful observations with his unique brand of humor. His dual role showcased his versatility and deep understanding of both the visual and narrative aspects of storytelling.

Beyond his regular cartooning duties, Gallo's work was also showcased in over 40 major exhibitions, including a special feature at the Baseball Hall of Fame in Cooperstown, New York.
