Biography | show moreshow less
Buddy Ebsen (1908-2003) did just that in many films of the 1930s. Later a sidekick to Western heroes Rex Allen and Fess Parker, he also played serious character roles, as in Night People (1955). Ebsen's greatest success came on TV, however, where he starred on The Beverly Hillbillies (1962-1971) and Barnaby Jones (1973-1980).
