CHIEF MANITOU
Chief Manitou, born Pedro Cejete, was a Pueblo Indian who entertained visitors to the Manitou Cliff Dwellings, Manitou Springs, Colorado, in the early 20th century. (His name derived from that of the town.) No mere tourist attraction Manitou himself used the railroad to explore the West, and met with President Taft to discuss Native American concerns, as recounted in Robert Cronk's pictorial history of the man, Outbound Journey (2013).
