Biography
Richard E. Cole (1915-2019) was the co-pilot of Plane #1, piloted by Lt. Col Doolittle himself, which incinerated a Tokyo factory. The crew bailed out over China, but all returned home safely. Cole continued to serve in the China-Burma-India Theatre into 1944. Remaining in the peacetime Air Force, his duties included Operations Advisor to the Venezuelan Air Force (1959-1962).
