Biography | show moreshow less
Coral Browne (1913-1991) became a British stage star, and also played numerous starring film roles over a 50-year period, beginning in 1935. Some of her best roles came late in her career. In An Englishman Abroad (1984), she plays herself in a true account of her chance meeting in Moscow with infamous Soviet spy Guy Burgess. In Dreamchild, 1985) she played an elderly Alice Hargreave, who had been the model for Lewis Carroll's Alice in Wonderland heroine, in a film which hints darkly at the author's relationship with the young girl. She met her second husband, Vincent Price, when he "murdered" her in Theatre of Blood (1973).
