DAME EMILIE ROSE MACAULAY
Biography
English author Emilie Rose Macaulay (1881-1958) wrote 35 books, mostly novels but also travelogues and a biography of John Milton. Her most critically acclaimed novel was her final one, The Towers of Trebizond (1956), a semi-autobiographical tale on the theme of reconciling adultery and religious faith. She was made a Dame of the British Empire shortly before her death.
