Daniel Louis Schorr was born on August 31, 1916, in the Bronx, New York City, and passed away on July 23, 2010, in Washington, D.C. As a distinguished American journalist, Schorr's career spanned more than six decades, covering notable events from the Cold War to the 21st century.

Schorr began his journalistic endeavors with the Jewish Daily Bulletin during the 1930s. He then moved to CBS News in 1953, where he quickly became a prominent correspondent, particularly for his coverage of the building of the Berlin Wall. His commitment to rigorous journalism was evident in his reporting on the Soviet Union, for which he was expelled from the country in 1957.

In the 1970s, Schorr's fearless reporting shone through as he covered the Watergate scandal. This led to his inclusion on President Richard Nixon's infamous "enemies list" – a testament to his relentless pursuit of the truth. His unyielding reporting style, however, occasionally led to controversy. Notably, in 1976, Schorr faced potential censure from Congress for leaking a suppressed House Intelligence Committee report to the Village Voice. In 1979, Schorr transitioned to the newly founded Cable News Network (CNN) but left in 1985 after a dispute over editorial decisions. This departure led him to National Public Radio (NPR) where he became a senior news analyst, a role he held until his passing in 2010. At NPR, he became a staple for listeners, offering insights into global and domestic events.

Schorr authored several books during his career, including "Staying Tuned: A Life in Journalism" (2001), where he provided a detailed account of his journalistic journey, giving readers a rare glimpse into the challenges and triumphs of his profession.

Throughout his life, Schorr received numerous accolades, including three Emmy Awards for his television journalism. His contribution to the field has left a lasting legacy, marked by an unwavering commitment to the principles of objective journalism.
