DARRYL STRAWBERRY (born in 1962) began his career in 1980 with the NY Mets. He was the first NL player to be voted All-Star Game starter in each of his first five full seasons. Strawberry was the top vote-getter in the 1986 All-Star Game and was second in NL MVP voting in 1988. He was voted All-Star eight seasons (1984-1991), was named Rookie of the Year (1983) and won the Silver Slugger twice (1988, 1990).
