Throughout her career, she appeared in more than 20 films, often in musical comedies and dramas. Some of her most notable works include One Hundred Men and a Girl (1937), Mad About Music (1938), First Love (1939), It Started with Eve (1941), and Christmas Holiday (1944). Her performances frequently featured operatic and popular songs, showcasing her vocal range. In 1939, at the age of 18, she received an Academy Juvenile Award for her contributions to film.
