Earl Wilson (May 3, 1907 – January 16, 1987) was an American journalist, gossip columnist, and author, widely known for his six-day-a-week nationally syndicated column, "It Happened Last Night." Born in Rockford, Ohio, Wilson pursued his higher education at Ohio State University, where he developed a keen interest in journalism.

Wilson's column, which ran in the New York Post and other newspapers, gained prominence for its insider's view of the celebrity scene, Broadway happenings, and high society events. With a career that spanned over four decades, Wilson established himself as one of the foremost columnists of his time, blending first-hand reports with a witty and often candid style.

In addition to his journalism, Wilson penned several books, including "Show Business Laid Bare" (1974), a behind-the-scenes look at the lives of the rich and famous, as well as "The Show Business Nobody Knows" (1971) and "Sinatra—An Unauthorized Biography" (1976). His writing was characterized by its directness and an unflinching willingness to share the personal and sometimes scandalous details of the stars he covered.
