Edgardo Alfonzo (b. 1973) played a dozen seasons in the Major Leagues (1995-2006), the first 8 with the New York Mets, followed by three seasons with the San Francisco Giants, and one divided between the Blue Jays and Angels. Alfonzo hit for a high average, with power. His best years were 1999, when he hit 27 home runs and drove in 108 runs; and 2000, when he batted .324 with 25 more homers and made the All-Star team.
