Biography
Edward Platt (1916-1974) had an aura of authority which usually resulted in his casting as a person in charge. Making the transition from radio to film and TV, he appeared as a juvenile officer in Rebel Without a Cause (1956), as a judge in Cape Fear (1962) and as a doctor on TV's General Hospital (1963). His most famous role, however, was as "the chief" on the spy spoof Get Smart (1965-1970), where his serious demeanor made him the perfect foil.
