Ellis Burks, born in Vicksburg, Mississippi in 1964, was a Major League outfielder and DH from 1987 to 2004, mostly with the Boston Red Sox and Colorado Rockies. A two-time All-Star and Silver Slugger and winner of the Gold Glove in 1990, Burks led the National League in slugging percentage, runs, total bases and extra base hits in 1996. He has a career batting average of .291 with 2,107 hits, 352 home runs, and 1,206 RBIs. The owner of "Taco Mac," a popular Atlanta restaurant and bar, collected many pieces of sports memorabilia from his athlete friends.
