Biography
Matthias (1557-1619) was Governor General of Spanish Netherlands (1577-1581) before being appointed Governor of Austria in 1593. He was Holy Roman Emperor from 1612 until his death in 1619. Matthias was crowned King of Bohemia in 1617 and of Hungary in 1618. The uprising in Prague in 1618 was the beginning of the Thirty Years' War.
