Born: February 14, 1898 in St. Louis, Missouri
Died: April 17, 1988 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California
Eva Novak (February 14, 1898 – April 17, 1988) was an American silent film and early talkies actress. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, she embarked on a career that spanned five decades, from the 1910s to the 1960s.
Novak started her acting career in 1917, initially working in Universal's Western film unit in California. She gained notable attention after being cast opposite Tom Mix in nine of his films, where she frequently played the lead female role. Her collaboration with Mix helped solidify her status in the industry as a talented actress in the Western genre. In 1921, Novak was selected by Fox Film Corporation to co-star in a series of Westerns with popular cowboy actor Buck Jones. Her work with Jones further heightened her profile. She also appeared in several romantic dramas during the 1920s, demonstrating her versatility as an actress.
When the film industry transitioned to sound in the late 1920s, Novak managed to adapt and successfully continued her career into the era of talkies. She appeared in several sound films, including "She Goes to War" (1929) and "The Donovan Affair" (1929). In the 1950s and 1960s, she had minor roles in television series, including "Perry Mason" and "Mister Ed," demonstrating her ability to transition with the times.
