Biography
Although Wray (1907-2004) made more than 75 films, she is best remembered for her role as Ann Darrow in the 1933 classic King Kong. Wray, "the beauty who killed the beast", started in films at the age of 12 in 1919 (Blind Husbands), and first found stardom in 1928 in The Wedding March. She continued making appearances in films through 1980, when she was featured in the made-for-TV movie, Gideon's Trumpet. Her other film credits include Thunderbolt (1929), Viva Villa (1934), Bulldog Jack (1935) and Tammy and the Bachelor (1957). Wray's autobiography, On the Other Hand, was published in 1989.
