Mary Scott Lord Dimmick Harrison was the niece of Benjamin Harrison's first wife, Caroline. She was Caroline's White House secretary and she was a widow. On April 6, 1896, 62-year-old widower and ex-President Benjamin Harrison married 37-year-old Caroline, who was younger than her two stepchildren. Mary Lord and Benjamin Harrison were married for four years and 341 days until the ex-President's death in 1901. She survived her husband by 46 years and 298 days. They had a daughter named Elizabeth in 1897. In 1921, the former Mrs. Harrison married James Blaine Walker, Jr. Interestingly, Jane, the daughter from their marriage, married the great grandson of President Garfield in 1961.
