Biography
Frances Parkinson Keyes (1885-1970), born in Charlottesville, Virginia, was a prolific writer who wrote a great number of books - including novels, memoirs and biographies - between 1919 and 1972. A convert to Catholicism, Keyes was especially noted for her use of Catholic themes in her writing. (Interestingly, Keyes' biggest seller was the 1948 murder mystery Dinner at Antoine's, but she wrote a total of two mystery novels during her career) She married Senator Henry W. Keyes when she was 18 and he was 40. Out of her experiences in Washington, D. C., she produced three nonfiction books (including Letters from a Senator's Wife, a collection of articles she wrote under that title for Good Housekeeping) and a novel, All That Glitters.
