Fred Spielman (1906-1997) was born in Austria where he entered the Music Academy of Vienna at 12 and earned a master's degree in piano and composition. Immigrating to the United States at age 32, he worked for MGM in Hollywood throughout the 1940s and 50s, as well as in the theatre writing scores for musicals The Stingiest Man in Town (1956). Considered a musician of the famous Tin Pan Alley, his works were recorded by artist such as Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, and Judy Garland.
